2017 Senior Girl’s Football Wrap

ACS Senior Girls have been playing in the annual Football Lightning Premiership since 2003 and in 2017 the enthusiasm for this event is at its strongest with the momentum generated from the inaugural AFLW season.

This year Loyola arrived for the competition determined to defend their 2016 premiership title but they had some determined opposition. Westbourne were the big improvers in 2017 rebounding from last place in 2016 to second place with three wins and one loss to the eventual premiers. Overnewton and St Michael’s were extremely competitive in their matches with some outstanding results. Thomas Carr never gave up but if not for some inaccurate kicking might have scored another win or two. In the end it was a rock-solid Loyola that remained undefeated for the day with four wins from their four matches to take out the 2017 Premiership.
