Thomas Carr College represented the ACS at the AFL Victoria Herald Sun Senior Girls’ Shield on Friday 18 July 2014 at Saltwater Reserve in Point Cook. The team was outstanding in their first match against Aquinas College and had a fantastic first 3 quarters leading Aquinas by 14 points going into the final quarter. A spirited Aquinas came out running hard and scored a goal in the final 30 seconds of the match to steal victory and a place in the Division 2 Final. A great effort by the Thomas Carr team and this will give them great confidence going into the ACS Girls’ Football Championships to be held on 8 October at Westbourne Grammar School.
In the consolation final for Division 2; between old rivals Thomas Carr and MacKillop – MacKillop was leading heading into the last quarter when Thomas Carr almost stole the match but just ran out of time in going down 3.4.22 to 3.1.19. Maddy Johnson (Captain) was named best player for Thomas Carr. A great effort by Thomas Carr and a great match played with good spirit by both teams.
