Since Girls Football was introduced to the ACS in 2003 it has been one of the most popular events on the ACS calendar. This years Girls Football event was one of the best ever, with five schools competing for the premiership cup. Thomas Carr have been champions for the past five years and were looking to go for a record 6th premiership.
The development of all teams has been superb. Overnewton were coached by one of the premier players in womens football, Daisy Pearce, and Loyola was coached by Rebecca Privitelli, another champion womens footballer. These two teams challenged Thomas Carr for premiership honours. Loyola was outstanding winning all four of their matches to take out the title of 2016 premiers. Overnewton were terrific competitors on the day, losing only to Loyola to finish in second place. Thomas Carr played solid football all afternoon to finish in third place. St Michael’s and Westbourne were great competitors on the day.
The girls enjoyed the competition and it’s fantastic to see the skill development of all the players. It was wonderful to have Daisy Pearce present the premiership cup and medals to the Loyola players.
Congratulations to all players for the skills they displayed, the spirit in which they competed and the terrific camaraderie between them.
