2019 ACS Wrap Up and Farewell Thomas Carr College

The Year 7, 8 and 9 Summer Grand Finals signal the end of another wonderful year of ACS Sport.

Congratulations to all the students and coaches who have dedicated themselves throughout the year and have made the finals. It is a great achievement to make a grand final and not everyone gets the opportunity to play in one. It’s time to celebrate your achievements and goals; whether it’s getting fit and playing sport with your friends, being active and social, developing your sporting skills or if you have leadership ambitions or to win a grand final – we hope you have enjoyed your sporting experience this year.

Well done to all students who have competed and congratulations to the Premiership teams for 2019.

Farewell Thomas Carr College

The ACS would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution of Thomas Carr College since the College joined the ACS in 2003. When Thomas Carr joined, they brought a new level of competition and spirit of sport which greatly enhanced the ACS program – a young school, with determined and proud students, who took to the ACS program with great enthusiasm.

Thomas Carr College will leave the ACS at the end of 2019 and after 17 years of competition, we would like to thank all at the College for their unwavering values of fair play and respect for all, determination and eagerness. Thank you to the students, Coaches and in particular, the Head of Sport; Margie White and Sports Administrator; Samantha Winch for their tireless work in supporting the values and endeavours of the ACS program in bringing diverse sporting opportunities for all students.

Thank you for the memories Thomas Carr College,

we wish you all the best for the future.

We look forward to following Sam’s AFL career with great interest.

2019 ACS All Stars Presentations Wrap

The ACS Annual All Stars Presentation celebrates the best and fairest players from across our member schools in 17 different sports – including both weekly sport and our three major carnivals.

This year’s event, held at Loyola College’s Companion’s Hall in September, acknowledged the achievements of these students in addition to inducting three current and former students from ACS schools into our Hall of Fame.

We congratulate Tess Coady (a former St Michael’s student), on her accomplishments in Snowboarding, which include World championship titles and selection in Australia’s Winter Olympics Team. Current Overnewton students, Gianluca Iannucci and Montana Ham were also inducted into our Hall of Fame, for representation at a National level in Soccer and Australian Rules Football.

Our guest speaker was Don Elgin, an accomplished Paralympian and Author, who shared wonderful anecdotes about his life and outlined the importance of being grateful, remaining positive and always giving things a go. His energy, passion and a cheeky sense of humour was enjoyed by all, and we thank Don for his involvement on the day.

Photographic highlights accompanied our All Star athletes as they were presented with a certificate, badge and personalised sports card to commemorate their achievements. The ACS would like to congratulate all our All Stars, in addition to all the coaches and staff for their ongoing support and involvement throughout the year. A big thank you also to Loyola College for their hospitality and hosting duties – we look forward to celebrating our next All Stars in 2020.
