ACS in Premier Teams Competitions

Above: Winners of the 2019 AFL Victoria Herald Sun Shield Division 2 – Loyola Girls Football Team

In the last two weeks ACS Premier teams have been competing in Victorian School Premier event competitions and doing extraordinarily well.

On the 12 September Loyola’s Senior Girls Football team won the final in the AFL Victoria Herald Sun Shield Division 2 Grand Final defeating Padua College by 13 points. A fantastic effort and we congratulate the Loyola team on their wonderful achievement.

On the 11 September as the ACS was celebrating their All Star Teams at Loyola College, Westbourne’s Senior Boys were defending the title they won in 2018, in the AFL Victoria Herald Sun Shield Division 2 Grand Final but were unable to defeat a very strong St Ignatius team. Well done to Westbourne on another outstanding year of football.

The Overnewton Senior Girls and Boys Soccer teams also represented ACS in the Melbourne City Premier Schools Cup. The Girls were outstanding making the semi-final only to go down 4 – 5 in an incredibly tight match against Kardinia International College. The Boys were also outstanding in winning through to the semi-final to defeat Emmaus College 2 – 0. In the Grand Final against Mazenod College, both teams played a fantastic match to draw 1 – 1 at full time with Mazenod defeating Overnewton 4 – 3 on Penalty kicks.

Congratulations to these teams; you have done the Association and your schools proud.

In December, we’ll be cheering on the Loyola Senior Boys Cricket team who will represent the ACS in the Cricket Victoria Premier Schools Shield at Royal Park. We wish them well.
