The 2023 ACS Athletics Championships were held at Lakeside Drive on Monday 22nd of May. On a beautiful sunny day, the scene was set for the 7 ACS schools to compete in what was one of the closest finishes to date.
The day started with a wonderful rendition of the Australian National Anthem performed by Tia from St Michael’s Grammar and was followed by the Welcome to Country recited by Dejan from Overnewton College.
With 168 track and field events on the board the day was filled with both individual and team triumphs as the schools competed fiercely while still embodying the sportsmanship and camaraderie that has become a real feature of the ACS Championships.
The leader board tilted and swayed through out the day as every race impacted the overall result.
The year level pennants were awarded to:
Westbourne – 9
St Leonard’s – 6
Overnewton – 4
St Michael’s – 2
Congratulations to St Leonard’s who won the Overall Aggregate Girls Score and to Westbourne who won the Overall Aggregate Boys Score. Westbourne Grammar were named victors on the day after winning the Overall Aggregate Score with a total of 2,869.50 points.
3 Competitors were recognised on the day for outstanding personal achievements by scoring perfect scores of 100 across 5 events. Congratulations to Amanda (Overnewton), Bailey (Overnewton) and Eden (Beaconhills).
