2024 ACS Cross Country Results

On Friday, 9 August, under the warmth of a beautiful sunny day, Bundoora State Park hosted the annual ACS Cross Country Competition. The event saw spirited participation from students across seven schools: Bacchus Marsh Grammar, Loyola College, Overnewton Anglican Community College, St Aloysius College, St Leonard’s College, St Michael’s Grammar School, and Westbourne Grammar School, with runners from Year 7 through Year 12 taking to the challenging course.

The competition was fierce, but it was Westbourne Grammar School that emerged as the dominant force of the day, claiming victory in both the Boys’ overall category and the combined aggregate, crowning them as the Overall Champions. Their outstanding performance was complemented by St Leonard’s College, who took home the top spot in the Girls’ overall category.

The sunny weather added to the enjoyment of the event, with the park’s scenic trails providing the perfect backdrop for the runners as they demonstrated their endurance and school spirit. The students navigated the course with determination, cheered on by their peers and supporters from the sidelines.

Westbourne Grammar School’s dominance was evident not only in their overall victory but also in their impressive haul of 10 year-level pennants, showcasing the depth of their talent across all age groups. St Leonard’s College followed with four pennants, while Overnewton Anglican Community College secured three, and St Michael’s Grammar School took home one.

The ACS Cross Country Competition was more than just a test of speed and endurance; it was a celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit. All participants, regardless of their finishing positions, displayed commendable effort and sportsmanship, making the day a memorable one for everyone involved.
