2019 ACS Chess Results

The 2019 ACS Chess Competition was hosted by Thomas Carr College where the seven members schools competed for the ACS Chess Cup.

This year’s competition was very even with great matches from many players from many schools. The depth was much stronger than in previous years across all teams and made for another very exciting finish. For the fourth year in a row the Championship was decided on the last match of the day between the number 1 ranked players from St Leonard’s and Westbourne. It was the St Leonard’s player who came out on top after a thrilling finish to give St Leonard’s the win to tie the final scores with Westbourne on 28. With St Leonard’s winning the head to head matches against Westbourne they were awarded the Championship. Congratulations to both teams on an outstanding day of competition. A special mention to the Thomas Carr team who finished only 1.5 points behind on 26.5 with Beaconhills in fourth place and Overnewton were great improvers finishing in fifth place just one point behind. St Michael’s and Loyola had some solid performances to finish in sixth and seventh place.

Well done to all teams and to the eight students across six schools who won all their matches.
