ACS 2025 CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2025 ACS Cross Country Championships were held on Friday 22 August at Bundoora Park, bringing together seven competing schools in what was a fantastic day of competition and school spirit. This year marked a special milestone as Aitken College joined the ACS Cross Country for the first time, making their debut with a strong and determined showing.
The event produced some outstanding performances, with two new course records set.
Hazel (Year 7 Girls – Westbourne Grammar)
Lila (Year 11 Girls – St Aloysius College)
Both runners delivered remarkable efforts to etch their names into the ACS history books.
Westbourne Grammar enjoyed a dominant day, claiming a clean sweep of the major trophies thanks to their depth and consistency across all age groups. However, the competition was fierce:
The boys’ section saw only a narrow margin between Overnewton and St Leonard’s in the race for second and third.
In the girls’ section, just a few points separated St Leonard’s from Westbourne in the battle for top spot.
The distribution of year level pennants highlighted the strength of the competition:
Overnewton – 4 pennants, particularly strong in the younger age groups, showing promising signs for the future.
St Leonard’s – 6 pennants, excelling in the upper year levels.
Westbourne – 8 pennants, reflecting consistency and depth across all divisions.
Importantly, most schools enjoyed the thrill of having runners stand on the podium, a wonderful outcome for the competition. Aitken College impressed in their debut appearance, with plenty of potential to build upon in future championships.
