16 February 2026
Dear Members of the ACS Community and CIPSSA Primary Interschool Sport Program,
Since 1998, the Association of Coeducational Schools (ACS) has proudly delivered comprehensive interschool sport for Years 7–12. We are excited to share the next chapter in this journey. As interschool sport continues to grow and evolve, we are pleased to share an important next step in strengthening pathways for our students.
From 2026, the Co-educational Independent Primary Schools Sports Association (CIPSSA) will transition into the ACS and be known as ACS Junior Sport. This change brings Year 5 and 6 interschool sport into a single, sustainable association, providing a clear and connected pathway from Primary into Secondary interschool competition.
This transition reflects both the growth of Primary interschool sport and the opportunity to support schools and students through a unified structure that enhances consistency, governance, and long-term sustainability.
What this means for our community:
Expanded opportunities – A unified structure allows us to grow our offerings, introduce new activities and pathways, and welcome additional Primary schools into both the Primary and Secondary ACS programs over time.
Streamlined resources and communication – Centralised coordination ensures clear communication, shared resources, and a consistent point of contact for coaches, students and parents.
Clear policies and strong governance – Established ACS policies will guide and support student wellbeing, ensuring a safe, structured and positive sporting environment.
Ongoing evaluation and focused direction – Regular review and a cohesive organisational approach will ensure ACS Junior Sport continues to evolve and meet the needs of our students.
Continuity and collaboration – CIPSSA has a proud history of collaboration among member schools, and ACS is committed to maintaining this spirit of collegiality as we build an even stronger interschool primary sports program.
We look forward to this exciting new era for Primary sport and to working in partnership with our schools to support students’ participation, development, and enjoyment of sport.
The first ACS Junior Sport Gala Days for Term 1 will be held on Friday 20 February and Friday 6 March. Further details will follow.
Yours sincerely,
Gerard Houlihan
ACS President
