In a return to face-to-face competition, this year’s event was hosted by Beaconhills College and run by Kids Unlimited on behalf of the ACS.
On Monday 17 May, 2021 at Beaconhills College (Berwick), 60 participants took part in the 2021 ACS Chess Tournament, with St Leonard’s looking to defend the titles they won in 2020 and 2019. The top 6 players from each team contribute to the overall team score.
The Swiss format provides for similar levels of players to compete against each other which led to such a close finish. With the final round underway one team held a healthy lead, but it wasn’t until the final board was completed that we learned that St Leonard’s and St Michael’s had tied for 1st place. Another exciting finish to ACS Chess!
Congratulations to all teams on such a great day of chess play.
Thank you to Beaconhills and Mr Rodney Gonsalves for hosting this wonderful event.
